Eye of the Sword

Eye of the Sword by Karyn Henley was an okay read.  While I really enjoyed Trevin's love for the Princess Melaia, the majority of the story took place with them apart.  I thought that the scenes of Trevin on his quest were dangerous and exciting, but not enough to keep my interest for very long.  His past was a surprise and the ending was delightful.

Double Crossed

Ally Carter recently put out a novella entitled Double Crossed that was a collaboration between characters from her two series:  the Heist Society and the Gallagher Girls.  I thought it was a delightful combination of the two story lines.  I think I have already read through it five times!  The interactions between Macey and Hale were delightful.  Her flirting and his refusal were precious.  The moment when Kat of course came in to save the day made the story.  Macey's references to Cam, Bex, and Liz made the story more likeable, as we can still hear about our other favorite characters.  I wonder how long it will take me to read it again!?!?!

The Fault in our Stars

After hearing so many people say so many wonderful things about John Green's The Fault in our Stars, I had to find out what all of the hype was about.  I read it and fell in love with it as so many others have.  I thought it was a beautiful tale of young love's battle with cancer.  The characters were so realistic and the conclusion great enough to make me cry.  While the ending is not what one hopes for at the beginning, it is the most realistic conclusion to a story that is not supposed to be fake.  I cannot believe it took me this long to get around to reading this book!  I will definitely get it out and read it again.

Scent of Magic

I recently read Scent of Magic by Maria V. Snyder.  I absolutely loved it.  I have read all of Maria's books and have to say that this is one of my favorites.  The writing is spellbinding and magical.  I think it took me only a day to read it as I could not put it down.  The story continued with Avry and Kerrick trying to help Ryne save the realms from Tohon.  It was brilliant to have Kerrick tell parts of the story.  It made the story that much more interesting.  I would get to a cliffhanger with Avry, just for the story to jump to Kerrick and leave a new cliffhanger.  The end of the book makes me want the third book in the trilogy to come out yesterday.  I need to know what happens to all of my favorite characters!
